A project is a basic part of the functioning of any company, organization or office.
Using the TeamLab Projects you can create, fill in and manage projects according to your company's needs.
To access the Projects module from other TeamLab modules, use the corresponding link in the top left corner of the page.
1. Create project
To start a new project, use the New Project link on the Projects dashboard or switch to the Projects tab and click the Create new project link. In the opened window enter your new project title and description,
add tags and select the project manager. Check the Private Project box if you'd like to create a project with particular access rights and press Add This Project.
Note:
TeamLab administrators will see the created project in the list of Active projects on the Projects tab right away. TeamLab members will need to wait for the administrator to confirm the request.
Once the project is created, you may proceed with adding people to the project team:
- Switch to the Team tab and click the Manage Team button.
- In the opened window select the team members from the list of TeamLab users.
- Use the rightwards arrow to move people to the Team list. Or use the leftwards arrow to remove them from the list.
- Click the Save button. The selected people will be added to the project team.
If you often have to deal with similar projects you can once create a Project Template and use it to save time you spend on entering the same data. For more details please read one of our helpful Tips & Tricks.

To successfully manage your projects, you can plan milestones, add tasks, lead discussions, share documents.
A milestone is a key point in the progress of a project. An unlimited number of tasks can be united under a milestone.
You may use it as a reference point by which the project must have achieved a certain development stage. To create a milestone:
- Switch to the Milestones tab and click the Plan new milestone link.
- In the opened window select the milestone due date using the calendar, next enter the milestone title.
- Leave the Remind me 48 hours before the due date if you want a notification sent and tick the Key milestone option if needed.
- When ready, click the Add This Milestone button.
The new milestone will appear on the Milestones tab in the list of open milestones.
A task is a minimal unit of a project. It describes a specific task within a project. An unlimited number of tasks can be attached to a milestone. To add a task:

The Tasks tab allows you to see all the tasks of a particular project, the tasks assigned to you or sort them by the team member.

3. Activate/Complete/Delete project
An active project is a project that is currently being worked on. When you create a project, it is automatically placed to the Active Projects list on the Projects tab. When you no longer need this project as active, you may choose to either complete or delete it.
A completed project is a project that is no longer being worked on. You decide when to change a project's status to completed yourself. All its milestones and tasks should not necessarily be closed for you to be able to complete it. To complete a project:
- Select the needed project from the list of active projects on the Projects tab.
- Switch to the Project Settings tab.
- Select Completed project in the Status section.
- Click the Save Changes button.
When you complete a project, it changes its status to completed and disappears from the All Projects list. However, after clicking the Show Closed Projects button it becomes available: all its corresponding milestones and tasks can be easily accessed and you can change its status back to active anytime.
To resume a project:
- Click the Show Closed Projects button.
- Select the needed project on the Projects tab.
- Switch to the Project Settings tab.
- Select Active project in the Status section.
- Click the Save Changes button.
The project will be moved back to the All Projects list on the Projects tab.
To delete a project:
- Select the needed project from the list of active projects on the Projects tab.
- Switch to the Project Settings tab and scroll down to the Delete Project section.
- Check the corresponding box and click the Delete This Project button.
Note:
if you decide to delete a project, keep in mind that the project with all its tasks, milestones, files, discussions etc. will be lost with no possibility to restore.
