Templates for Similar Projects

It takes lots of time to create a project with all associated stuff like building a project team, planning milestones, tasks and discussions. Bare Bones Instructions

Follow these simple steps to create a project template:

1. Enter your TeamLab portal.
2. Click the Projects link at the top on your portal.
3. In the opened 'Projects' module, switch to the Project Templates tab.
4. Click the Create project template link on the 'Actions' panel.
5. Enter a title for your project template and click the Add This Template button.
6. To build a project team switch to the Team tab and click the link in the center of the page. In the opened window, check the boxes corresponding to the employees you want to add to the project team and click the right-pointed arrow. Then hit the Save button.
7. To create the first milestone switch to the Milestones tab and click the link in the center of the page. Enter its title and set its due date. Check the 'Remind me 48 hours before the due date' and 'Key milestone' boxes if necessary. After that click the Add This Milestone button. You can create as many milestones as you need clicking the 'Plan new milestone' link on the 'Actions' panel.
8. To create the first task, switch to the Tasks tab and click the link in the center of the page. Enter its title, description and assign the task to a team member and to a milestone if necessary. Then click the Add This Task button. You can create as many tasks as you need clicking the 'Add new task' link on the 'Actions' panel.
9. To start a discussion, switch to the Discussions tab and click the link in the center of the page. Enter its title and state a problem for discussing in the text field. Preview the text you entered if needed and click the Add This Message button.

Your project template is ready. You can create a real project on its basis any time clicking the Create Project from Template button at the top or a link with the same title on the 'Actions' panel.

Helpful Hints

Can I edit an existing project template?

Surely, you can. To edit a project template, please proceed through the following steps:

1. Open the 'Projects' module.
2. Switch to the 'Project Templates' tab.
3. Select the template you need to edit from the list clicking its title.
4. Switching between the available tabs ('Milestones', 'Discussions', 'Tasks', 'Team') and using the options displayed within the 'Actions' panel you can change your project template.
